A name, two languages, one idea
Behind Taleco lies a simple conviction: that economics is the most international language we humans have invented — and that a good Danish accountant should be able to speak it fluently.
'Tal' is Danish. 'Eco' is English.
'Tal' carries within it both the analytical and the human: the columns of a trial balance and the conversation about what the numbers mean for the business behind them.
'Eco' is shorthand for economy, derived from the Greek oikos (household) and nomos (law). It is also the beginning of ecosystem: a reminder that economics never stands alone.
Taleco is a word that crosses a boundary: half Danish, half English — just as any company that today trades, procures, employs or reports across Denmark's borders also does.
"Taleco is composed of 'Tal' — Danish for numbers — and 'Eco' — English for economy. We chose the name because we believe economics should be speakable in more than one language."
Economics as an international language
When a Danish company closes its accounts, it does not speak only Danish. It speaks IFRS and ÅRL. It speaks VAT across EU borders, OECD standards for transfer pricing, and ISA when the audit must be signed.
This is the paradox Taleco is built to handle. We are deeply rooted in Danish accounting practice and Danish tax law — but we treat IFRS, ISA and international tax law as an integrated part of our daily craft.
That is why we offer our website, our communication and our reporting in Danish, English, German, French and Arabic. It is a recognition that the company we work for rarely speaks only one language.
Good accounting practice and good manners
'Good accounting practice' is for us not merely a technical term from company law. It is an ethical starting point. The numbers must be true, complete and understandable — not only for authorities and auditors, but for the manager who must make decisions based on them.
"We reply to emails the same day. We call back when we said we would. We explain the difficult without making it less. We apply the prudence principle when doubt stands between us and the client. And we remember that behind every set of accounts stand people who should be able to sleep soundly at night."
